Back in the early 1900s, Charles Lummis, founder of Los Angeles’s Southwest Museum (The Autry), decided to make an effort to record the songs of native Hispanic cultures. This project resulted in rare recordings like this one of the song Barquillera, sung by Manuela Garcia and recorded on wax cylinder in 1904.
