Pop Up Archive will be shutting down operations and ending support for Pop Up Archive on November 28, 2017 at 10am PST.
We know this change may be disruptive and that many users will have questions and concerns. Please read the information below carefully to help you download your files:
- I want to download my transcripts and audio files. How do I go about doing that?
It’s easy — just go to your Collections page and look for the “Prepare Batch Download” button on the right hand side of each Collection. (If you are on a team plan, any member of your team can do this.)
Pick whether you want transcripts only, or audio files and transcripts.
Once you make your selection, your download will begin (the button will turn gray and the text will change change to “Preparing Download”).
- Why is my batch download taking so long to prepare?
The number of files in the collection, and the file format (.wavs are larger than .mp3s), will affect the time required to prepare the batch download, so don’t panic if it isn’t ready immediately. Very large collections may take up to several hours to prepare. You will receive an email when the zip file with the content of your collection is ready.
- Will I get a partial refund for November hours?
We will not be charging customers in November, so you can use all the hours for the plan you are currently on (plan changes are now disabled) free of charge.
- I’m on a multi-month contract that hasn’t expired yet. Will I be given a refund?
Yes, we will be contacting all customers with contracts to arrange pro-rated refunds for unused time.
- I added a new item to a collection, or modified an existing item in a collection. Now I want to re-download the collection but I can’t. What should I do?
No problem; just refresh the page and the button should switch back to allow you to prepare the batch download.
- Some of my audio files aren’t showing up in the .zip folder. Why?
If you chose to store audio files at the Internet Archive and the Internet Archive’s server is not available at the moment we prepare the batch download, we will not be able to deliver those files to you in the .zip folder. If you are missing any audio from an Internet Archive collection, please visit this page to search for it and contact Internet Archive with any questions.
We will be in touch over the coming weeks with additional reminders to download files. We also encourage you to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns. We will respond to your emails as quickly as possible to support your access to and download of your collections.
We’re deeply grateful to our customers, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
